Progress Reports

Progress Report #7

5-13-11

1. I have begun to make cutout pieces of animals and plants with wallpaper and cardboard.

2. I had a lot of issues with making cutouts from the wallpaper because it was so old and fragil that even the sharpest xacto knife coouldn’t cut it without iy falling apart.

3. I am going to continue with the cardboard cutouts, but with this I am going to incorporate the wallpaper strips within it.

Progress Report #6

4-29-11

1. I have finished the mannequin piece. I am now working on taking pieces of the still life mannequin and individually painted them. the flower and the skull.

2. The skull was a lot of fun for me to paint. It was pretty simple and I enjoyed the way I shaded it. I had trouble painting the flower to make the petals.

3. I am going to move onto a new project.

Progress Report #5

4-8-11

1. I started the mannequin piece. So far I feel like it isn’t as proportional as it should be.

2. The details on the piece turned out well, especially the necklace and the rose atop to the skull’s head.

3. I may put ink outlines around the piece, especially around the skull.

Progress Report #4

3-18-11

1. I have finished the second canvas piece.

2. I struggled with the details of the faces. I had three heads and then the smaller parts of the still life scattered throughout such as the army figures and the cars.

3. I’m going to move on to paint the mannequin with the skull and flower

Progress Report #3

3-4-11

1. I finished one piece on canvas of the still life. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out.

2. While working on it I realized how had it was to make the composition fill up the areas. It looks as if my painting techniques began to get better the farther I moved along in the painting, which looks pretty interesting.

3. I just finished painting the canvas of my next one. I might do something similar to my last one, but make large and small contrasts throughout the piece.

Progress Report #2

2-18-11

1.I have finished all the pieces of fruit that I wanted to complete. I have made limes, a strawberry, grapefruit, blackberry, eggplants and pears. I am very happy with the way they all turned out.

2. In my pieces I wanted the background color to what would look nice with the colors of the fruit. Some of them, though, the details were hard to make look realistic.

3.I am not positive as of now what I want to do for my next project but I am experimenting with painting the still life on canvas.

Progress Report #1 (2nd semester)

2-4-11

1. I finished the project of progressive drawings. I am happy with the way they turned out. The foods include: pear, apple, tomato, banana, guava, papaya, chili, orange, etc.

2.I made the backgrounds from canvas, most were painted red and tan with ink painted, looking like a drawn piece. Some of the detals weren’t easy to portray with just black ink that I used

3. I enjoyed making these somewhat realistic pieces, so I am going to continue with this and do it on cardboard and color.

Progress Report #7

1-7-11

I have completed five pieces of the fruit and vegetable pieces. I took scrap painted canvas and used black ink to paint the pieces. Some of the pieces show a progression of the drawing, while some show the fruit being cut and becoming smaller. I have made an apple piece, grapefruit, banana, and papaya.

Progress Report #6

12-17-20

I finished editing four silhouettes on Photoshop. I then painted a large canvas and drew the same image on the canvas then painted the inside black. I made two successful pieces out of the four I made, I am now going onto the next project.

Progress Report #5

12/3/10

I have begun my silhouette pieces. The beginning required editing pictures I took to have the figures black on a white background. I edited four pictures so far to look this way and plan to recreate them on canvas when I finish editing them.

Progress Report #4

11-12-10

I have completed 4 pieces on hard canvas board. I am somewhat happy with how they have turned out. They don’t really look how the pieces in my sketchbook look. It is hard to recall how I did the pieces last year, but I am also experimenting with different techniques that look kind of like they did before. I am also accidentally trying new styles as I work through them.

10-15-10

Progress Report #3

I have created about 10 or so abstract pieces. Most of the pieces are made from canvas that were pieces of print samples. Some of them were also made from cardboard with random text on it that I incorporated in the pieces. I used melted crayon that was shaped and glued them on to the pieces. Under that I used house paint  for a primer. While making these pieces I became very frustrated with the fact that all of them looked the same in my eyes and I had little motivation to continue making these. I recently started using some realistic features in it which is starting to make them evolve and look different from my other pieces.

10-1-10

Progress Report #2

I have completed less pieces, but I feel like they are stronger pieces than the first group of pieces. I completed a peacock on a triptych of cardboard, I think it is successful. I did many pieces of still-life apples that are slowly being eaten overtime on pieces of woven canvas. Although there isn’t much quantity, I feel that the quality is much better then before.

Progress Report #1

So far I feel pretty successful with what I have made. So far I have painted maple leaves, an ink tree, multiple flowers, a small tree, roots, a hummingbird, and multiple cutouts from printed fabric. I am disappointed that they are all pretty small. I hope that I can branch out and find other canvases to paint on other than cardboard because so far that’s all I have used. I also have trouble with coming up with more interesting things to paint on the canvas. I am satisfied with the abstract backgrounds I have made to paint on top of.
